Mary Moon

Mary Leah Moon, beloved widowed Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt was born December 3, 1938, and transitioned from earth to the presence of the Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in Middletown, Ohio.  The youngest of fourteen children, Mary was born of the union of the late Roy and Annie (Munday) Smith, in Bellbrook, Ohio.  She grew up in Waynesville, Ohio. Mary graduated from Waynesville High School in 1957. Growing up in Waynesville, Mary enjoyed horses, motorcycles, and fast cars (Corvette).
A few years later, she married the love of her life, Reverand Richard R. Moon, Sr. This beautiful forty-six years of marriage produced three loving children.
Mary was employed at Frisch’s on South Main Street in Middletown as the Head Cook for 14 years. In 1990, she became a certified STNA at the Barbara Parke Nursing Home for seventeen years retiring in 2007.
Mary was preceded in death by her much-loved husband, Richard R. Moon, Sr., her parents, Roy and Annie Smith; sisters, Helen, Dorothy, Ivy, Geneva, Annabelle, and Elizabeth; six brothers, Ralph, Roy Jr., Jimmy, Robert, Paul, and James.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her sons, Richard R. Moon, II, JoNathan T. Moon, and Kenny Bryant, II; daughters Teresa L. Moon Franklin (Aubrey) and Margaret L. Martin (Otis); granddaughters, La’Sha Moon, La’Tene Smith, and Terris Glover; grandsons, Richard R. Moon, III (mother, Liza of Hawaii), and Tony Glover; great-grandsons, Sha’Lee Moon (Little Charlie); sisters, Lucille Beard, Mamie McAtee, and Linda Bales.  Her extended adopted family, Katherine Gaines, Willie C. Lindsey, John H. Lindsey, Elder Tyrone E. McGuffey; special friends, Tierra Jones, Lisa Burus, Alice Gabbard, Kenny and Rose Cumberland, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
