Nicholas Carlos Brooks, affectionately known as Nick B., was born on August 6, 1984, in Lincoln Heights, Ohio, and passed away suddenly on April 9, 2024, at the age of 39. Known for his quick wit and ever-ready humor, Nick leaves behind a legacy filled with laughter, love, and dedication to his community.
Nick grew up in Lincoln Heights, attending Princeton High School and later graduating from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in 2011. As an accountant, Nick advanced quickly through his professional milestones starting with Deloitte, and Turner Construction, and completing his final role as Senior Accountant at Georgia-Pacific.
A man of many talents and passions, Nick was a true power and electricity ‘MacGyver' in refurbishing homes—a skill he joyfully learned and practiced alongside his mother, Christina. Whether it was attending his children’s school and sports events, enjoying poker nights with his uncles, family vacations and fishing trips, or traveling to comedy shows and Vegas celebrity poker tournaments, Nick embraced life head-on. He loved the Lincoln Heights community, not only for owning and operating a popular convenience store, ‘Nick’s Snack Shop’, but for his genuine engagement in giving back to the place that raised him.
Nick was a lifelong fan of the Steelers and a familiar face at local skating rinks like The Skating Place and SkateTown USA, where he could often be found on Sunday and Wednesday nights sharing laughs and good times.
Nick's memory will be cherished by his children, Christopher, Madison, and Gabrielle Brooks; his parents, Gerald Brooks and Christina Brooks; siblings, Myron Williams, Veronica, Angel, Rose Brooks, and Sharnice Carter; grandmother, Mamie Williams; and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by his grandfather, David Williams, grandmother, Evelyn Brooks, and brother, Gerald Richard Brooks Jr.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Burress Temple Church of God, 208 Locust Street, Lockland, OH, with Pastor Julie Anne Price officiating. Interment will follow at Landmark Memorial Gardens, 1600 Glendale Milford Road, Cincinnati, OH. Friends and family are invited to gather at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service to share memories and condolences. Condolences to the Brooks family will be received at 10108 Dixie Ct, Lincoln Heights, OH 45215.
